As I Am Naturally Hair Care Products Review

Here is my comprehensive review of the As I Am Naturally Hair Care Product line.
I break down what I like and didn't like in the video but here is a quick run down of their products

Ratings are as follows: NO THANKS, AVERAGE, NICE and THE BOMB.COM

Cleansing Pudding: THE BOMB.com! This product has a really good creamy consistencyy. It feels as if you're working a silky smooth pudding through my hair. I definitely noticed the difference in washing my hair with the cleansing pudding. My hair is usually very smooth and easy to detangle after using this product.

Coconut Co-wash: AVERAGE...I feel it's more of your standard conditioner. The texture isn't as silky smooth as the cleansing pudding so it's a bit hard to manipulate but it appears to be a standard conditioner.
Smoothing Gel: NICE I'm not a gel person so it would be hard to give any gel a high rating. However I did enjoy the fact it didn't harden my hair.
Curling Jelly: NICE. It held my curls right out of the shower. It just took a while to dry. I was able to do a nice fro-hawk the following week. (Yes I was that amazed with the curls I left then un-washed for a week.)
Leave-in Conditioner: NICE I found that it smelled amazing and the consistency is similar to Cantu Shea Butter. I attained my first successful wash-n-go while using it. However there was flaking! Just didn't make me head over heels.
Double Butter Cream :AVERAGE. Your basic moisturizing cream. It's good if you'd like a daily moisturizer
Cocoa Shea Spray: NICE.until It hardened on me! It was a great spritzer but I don't know why it turned into hard goop?
Moisture Milk: (Just tried this!) NO THANKS. I had the same issue with Carol's Daughter Hair Milk and seems like all products called "Milk" It was a little bit too greasy for me to deal with. My hair felt extremely greasy after I applied it.
Twist Defining Cream: TBA (I need to do a full twist out later this week.)

Overall the line isn't too bad a few good stand out products (i.e. the Cleansing Pudding) and a few not so good ones.

  5. This brand is so greasy and most of it just sits on top of your hair. It doesn't penetrate. It's so greasy that my daughter had to put a napkin on the back of her chair at work after using it. The shampoos dried my scalp like hard clay and made it itch. I say do not waste your money. The marketing is great. The product is awful.

  7. The Cleansing Pudding felt good while it was on my hair but it was VERY drying and I believe my hair came out from the follicles (in excess of normal hair loss during shampooing). I will never recommend this product.

    1. I had the exact same problem just last week when I washed my hair using the Coconut Wash Cleansing Conditioner. A huge tuft of hair came out from the root, and it left me shaken (first time to have ever had this problem). So glad I googled the product and found your review. I'll be throwing the remainder of the contents down the drain. I'd rather lose my money, than lose my hair. It doesn't help that the product left my hair tangled and limp. YUCK!

  8. I found the cleansing pudding and coconut co wash very drying. The twist n define cream I loved and it kept my hair so soft and made my hair easy to detangle.

  9. I have 5 items from this line. Cleansing pudding- love it. Coconut cowash-love it. Hydration Elation Deep Conditoner-love it. Twist and define cream-LOVE-LOVE it. Smoothing Gel- ok. The line is expensive. But when used together its the bomb. The deep conditioner and twist cream really helped with the moisture in my 4 type hair. My new natural staple!

  10. you will fnd their products to be drying because they contain alchol which is a huge red flag for natural hair girls. along wth cantu leave in conditioner for example it dries my hair out badly. mak sure you ladies check what these products are made with before purchasing. sometimes you will be better of using coconut oil egg whites and honey lbvs

  12. The AS I AM products contain an ingreedient called "AMLA" which is from a nut tree in India. It's for Indian hair which is STRAIGHT. It's formulated to "fluff out, thicken and add volume" to hair that has a flat cuticle. Most of our hair does NOT have a flat cuticle but a raised cuticle. Therefore, some of the AS I AM products may not provide enough moisture for OUR hair.

I was not impressed with the LIC and it shrunk my hair. It does contain AMLA.

Like another commenter said: "read the labels" and do your research!

  14. I purchased, Curl clarity Shampoo, Coconut Cowash, Leave-in Conditioner, twist Define cream, moisture milk and Double butter cream. I regret this decision being as though i have been Natural for 7 years, my hair was strong and growing beautifully & now it is dry and brittle and breaking off. I DO NOT recommend this product to anyone.
